The Mexico quintana roo tourist tax is a mandatory fee that is enforced by the state of Quintana Roo, home to popular vacation destinations like Cancun, Isla Mujeres, Cozumel, and Playa del Carmen. This fee, which is also known as VISITAX, is designed to help generate revenue for local tourism-related projects and infrastructure.
Currently, this fee can be paid online through PayPal or by credit card. Once your payment is processed, the system will send you a confirmation QR code via email within 12 hours. Then, when you arrive at the airport, you will need to show this QR code to the immigration officer in order to pass through the security checkpoint.
Navigating Quintana Roo’s Tourist Tax: What You Need to Know Before Your Vacation
While many travelers may be unaware of this new requirement, it is important that you and your clients are aware of its importance. After all, no one likes to be hit with unexpected fees at the end of a vacation!
In addition to ensuring that your clients are prepared for this new requirement, it is important that you are aware of how the VISITAX process works. This way, you can ensure that your clients are able to enjoy their trip without any hassles!
VISITAX is only applicable to tourists who are over the age of 15 and who are staying in a hotel, resort, or vacation rental property located within the state of Quintana Roo. This includes domestic and international visitors. However, families traveling with children who are residents of the state of Quintana Roo are exempt from this requirement.
